Dr Barbara Jenkinson, the co-founder and director of Light and Life International, has served in Christian leadership and ministry for over 30 years.  Her passion is to see people grow in intimacy with Jesus and be raised up to walk into their full destiny and calling.

Barbara who was formerly on the Scottish board of Aglow International has also served with Youth with a Mission and worked in missions in Africa, Romania and Portugal. She now lives in Ayrshire with her husband Colin and her two children.

As a passionate prophet, worship leader and pioneer, Barbara also carries a strong evangelistic and pastoral anointing. Prior to founding Light & Life she enjoyed a successful business career as a corporate strategist, and still occasionally teaches in Scottish universities.

Since 2007, Light & Life has grown to include over 3000 volunteers who serve on 60 outreach teams across Scotland. They also have outreach centres in other parts of the UK, across Europe, and in South Africa, America and Canada. In addition to running outreach events, Light & Life International also work closely with many different organisations and churches to train the Body in Prophecy, Evangelism and the Supernatural Ways of God.

Barbara has published a number of books including: ‘Sharing God’s love through prophecy and the revelatory gifts’; and ‘Reaching spiritually hungry people’. The first provides a step by step guide to help the reader develop their relationship with Holy Spirit and grow their revelatory gifting in the areas of prophecy, words of knowledge, word of wisdom, and the discerning of spirits. The second ‘Reaching Spiritually Hungry People’ provides a prophetic backdrop to the incredible days we live in, and includes keys for sharing the Gospel with people from all sorts of different backgrounds and beliefs including various religions, reiki and witchcraft among others.

In 2014 Barbara, along with her husband Colin, pioneered a new church called The River, which aims to model the style, values, power and sense of community of the early church as demonstrated in the New Testament. Although early days, we have around 50 folk who worship with us, a third of whom have recently been saved, or come back to Jesus. As a family of believers, we are passionate about pursuing God’s Presence whether we are worshipping, learning or eating curry!
